#VOCEALLEGAMER: THE SOCIAL EXPERIMENT AGAINST GENDER DISCRIMINATION IN THE GAMING WORLD

– from WINDTRE Business editorial staff

WINDTRE launches online the new video #VoceAlleGamer, which sees the professional gamer Tuberanza as the protagonist of a social experiment, who faces an online gaming session as a woman. Although female players in Italy represent 47% of gamers, they are underrepresented in the world of video games, being considered a strongly male field. For this reason, the female gender is strongly discriminated against, so much so that 72% of female gamers turn off the microphone while playing online with other players, preventing them from expressing their identity. The initiative pushed by WINDTRE wants to underline the company’s commitment to digital responsibility , through an inclusive use of technology.

Tuberanza, during the social experiment flanked by Diletta Begali (WINDTRE Ambassador and content creator), plays pretending to be a woman and communicates with the other online players through a microphone that changes her voice into what seems to belong to a real girl. During the game session, the gamer is amazed by the amount of insults received, all related to his sexuality.

“But do you do it on purpose to play so badly or just because you are a woman?”

The goal of the disclosure of this video is to make people think about gender discrimination , because preventing a woman from being herself online is also violence.

Tuberanza comments: “You have won. Keep playing despite having a constant penalty on you. And so you are the real winners. And it is right that you have your voice ”.
